Outpatient Program
The year after the hard part.
Our step-down outpatient program is for people who have enough footing to need fewer hours—and enough humility to know they still need a place to land.
What OP is
Outpatient at Riceland is less intensive than IOP. It is not “done.” It is the long middle: work is back, family is back, and the novelty of getting sober has worn off. That is when people quietly drift.
We offer outpatient services for up to one year or longer. Frequency is individualized—often one to three contacts a week at first, then a slower cadence as stability holds.
• Individual counseling
• Ongoing group when it still serves you
• Relapse-prevention tune-ups
• Coordination with sober living, work, or family (with consent)
Who steps into OP
After IOP here:
The cleanest path. Same building, same people, fewer hours. No need to re-tell your story to a stranger across town.
After residential elsewhere:
If you completed inpatient or residential and IOP is more than you need—or you already did IOP—OP can be the right first call in Lafayette.
When life is mostly standing:
A job, a home, some clean time, and a honest sense that isolation is still dangerous. OP keeps a weekly thread.
How it feels different from IOP
IOP is a schedule you build a week around. OP is a relationship you refuse to drop. The clinical work continues—triggers, relationships, work stress, the first holiday, the first paycheck—but you carry more of the week yourself.
If OP is not enough, we will say so and talk about returning to IOP or referring to a higher level of care. Stepping up is not failure. Disappearing is.
